What is this car’s battery worth?

Remaining warranty, expected state of health, battery lease and cost of a failure. All at once — and nothing you enter leaves your browser.

We check, we don’t certify. The date of first registration is shown in box B of the V5C logbook. The state of health given is a range calculated from the battery’s age, mileage and chemistry: only a measurement on the vehicle gives a figure.

Battery versions of the Dacia Spring

A model sold over several years does not have the same battery from start to finish, and two versions are often sold side by side. Identify yours: capacity and chemistry change the range, the expected degradation and the cost of a replacement.

The expected state of health of a Dacia Spring battery

Three model years of this car, at the average French annual mileage of 9,321 miles, each with its chemistry. These ranges describe where a comparable battery usually sits, not yours: use, climate and charging habits spread the fleet widely.

  • 2021 model year83 to 92%5 years, 46,603 miles, NMC chemistry
  • 2024 model year91 to 97%2 years, 18,641 miles, NMC chemistry
  • 2026 model year98 to 100%under a year, chemistry not recorded

For a figure rather than a range, you need a measurement on the car. What state of health means and how it is measured.

What the energy costs per 100 miles

Charged at home, a Dacia Spring uses between £5.72 and £7.68 of electricity per 100 miles.

By comparison, a recent petrol car averages 38.7 mpg (7.3 L/100 km) in real-world use: about £20.30 of fuel per 100 miles, at the average price of unleaded petrol (£1.728 per litre on 2 November 2026).

Bottom of the range: the WLTP official consumption, from 4.3 to 4.6 miles/kWh depending on the version. Top: 25% more, the measured gap between official figures and real-world use. Electricity at £0.2632 per kWh, the Ofgem price cap.

Charging at a public charge point: prices vary too much from one operator to another to be given here.

Charging at home: a night on a plug

Plugged in for 8 hours on a 3-pin plug, a Dacia Spring adds between 65 and 85 miles; on a 16 A commando socket, between 100 and 135 miles, depending on the version and how it is driven.

The Dacia Spring battery

Sold since 2021, with a pack of about 26.8 kWh.

The Dacia Spring pack does not lend itself to module-by-module repair. A diagnosis is still worthwhile: the fault often lies in an ancillary component rather than the pack itself.

Which battery does the Dacia Spring have?

The Dacia Spring has had a single capacity since its launch in 2021: a 26.8 kWh usable pack (27.4 kWh gross), with nickel (NMC) cells on the early model years. The September 2024 facelift, which brought the 45 hp and 65 hp motors, did not change the capacity. A switch to LFP chemistry is mentioned for the most recent model years without confirmation in France: this page does not settle it.

There is no small and large battery as on the Zoe or the R5: the model year changes nothing, and there is no version to ask about. The battery was never offered on lease: it always belongs to the car.

How long does a Spring battery last?

Nobody publishes a lifespan in years for this pack, and that is not the right question anyway. A battery wears with the number of cycles, with heat and with rapid charging. At 26.8 kWh, a Spring completes a full cycle roughly every 200 km (125 miles), twice as often as a car with a large battery over the same mileage: at 10,000 km (6,000 miles) a year, that is about fifty full cycles. That rhythm, more than age, sets the wear.

What matters for a used Spring is the measured state of health: the section above gives the expected range by year. Dacia shows it in the MyDacia app and issues a battery certificate: ask for it before buying. Below 75% capacity, the warranty takes over as long as the car is under 8 years and 120,000 km.

The Spring battery warranty

In France, Dacia warrants the battery for 8 years or 120,000 km (about 75,000 miles), whichever comes first, with a 75% capacity threshold: below it, the pack is repaired or replaced. The threshold is more generous than the market’s usual 70%, the mileage shorter than Renault’s 160,000 km: on a high-mileage Spring, it is the mileage that runs out first. The warranty follows the car from one owner to the next: a 2021 Spring stays covered until 2029 if it has not passed 120,000 km.

Price of a Spring battery

The after-sales price of the 26.8 kWh pack is about €7,000 including VAT, pack only (L’argus, June 2026). The pack cannot be repaired module by module: out of warranty, the whole pack is replaced. Before it comes to that, get a diagnosis: the fault often lies in a peripheral, the charger or the wiring, far cheaper than the pack.
