Who is responsible

The principle
The battery checker – the site’s main feature – collects nothing of what you enter into it. The model, year and mileage you enter never leave your browser: the calculation is done there, on pre-rendered data. The audience measurement described below counts that a check took place, never which one; the same goes for interpreting a state-of-health measurement. We never ask for your email address before we have given you an answer.
What we collect, and when
Through the site’s forms, and only if you fill them in voluntarily. These forms are currently only available on the French site. Outside them, only the audience measurement described below records anything, and nothing that can identify you.
- Trade-in valuation, if you are selling: your vehicle’s model, model year and mileage, your postcode, your name, your email address and, if you wish, your phone number.
- Listing a garage: the business contact details of the establishment and of the person submitting the request.
- Review of a garage: the author name displayed and an email address, which is never published.
- A measurement you report to us: the state of health read on your vehicle, its model year and its mileage. No personal data is attached to it – no name, no email address: an observation is anonymous by design.
- Contact form: your name, your email address, your organisation if you give it, and your message. They are forwarded to us by email and are not stored on the site.
Your IP address is never stored in clear: only a non-reversible hash is kept, to detect automated submissions.
Audience measurement
We count the pages viewed and a few actions – a check carried through to the end, a form sent, a click through to a partner – to know what is useful and what isn’t. This measurement sets no cookies and stores no identifier in your browser. It records the page, the site you came from, the type of browser and device, the language, and an approximate location derived from your IP address, which is not kept. When you send a form, it also notes the model or département concerned – never your contact details. Nothing you enter into the checker or the interpreter is included.
It cannot identify you, which is why no banner asks for your consent. The tool is Umami, which we host ourselves along with the rest of the site: these statistics are not passed on to any third party.
Why
To follow up on what you asked for: putting a seller in touch with a buyer, reviewing a listing request, publishing a review after moderation. The processing is based on your consent, and on the performance of pre-contractual steps taken at your request.
Who receives it
A seller’s contact details are passed only to a professional buyer, and to no one else. No transfer is automatic: it is done by hand, after review. We neither sell nor rent any data.
Where it is hosted
With Railway Corp., in its Europe West region, in Amsterdam. The data does not leave the European Union. Railway acts as a processor within the meaning of the GDPR and the UK GDPR. The audience measurement statistics are hosted in the same place.
For how long
Twenty-four months from your request. After that, your name, email address and phone number are erased automatically. All that remains is information about the vehicle and the request – the model, model year, mileage, postcode and date – and proof of your consent: it is used for statistics and cannot be used to contact you.
The audience measurement statistics are also kept for twenty-four months, then erased.
Messages received through the contact form are deleted from our mailbox no later than twelve months after the last exchange.
Your rights
You can ask for your contact details to be erased at any time, using the link in the email you received. Erasure is immediate. A buyer who has already received them keeps their own copy: contact them directly.
You also have the rights of access, rectification, restriction and objection under the GDPR and the UK GDPR, which you can exercise at contact@sohpass.com, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority: in the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO, ico.org.uk), or the French CNIL.
A measurement you have reported to us cannot be erased on request, for a simple reason: it carries no personal data, nothing links it to you, and we would be unable to identify it.
Consent version
For a trade-in valuation, the text you accepted is archived with its version, currently 2026-09-v2. Any change to this text creates a new version: past requests remain linked to what was actually shown to you.
